School Programs
To date, we have reached more than 20,000 students in grades 3-12 who acquired timely and important lessons about justice, freedom and human rights. Our curriculum begins with the 1839 Amistad Uprising and subsequent Supreme Court decision while highlighting themes of social justice such as dehumanization, resistance, and modern-day comparisons.
Our curriculum includes the option of a dockside visit aboard the Amistad. With the ship as a backdrop, we provide students a multi-tiered educational experience through which they can relive history and use its lessons to bring about positive change in today’s society.
