Stephen Armstrong

Steve Armstrong serves as the Connecticut Board of Education's Social Studies Consultant. Before taking this position, Armstrong was a social studies department supervisor in the West Hartford, Conn. public schools. An adjunct instructor in the history department at Central Connecticut State University, Armstrong is a past president of the National Council for the Social Studies, and is also past president of the Connecticut Council for the Social Studies, the Connecticut Committee for the Promotion of History and the New England History Teachers Association. A resident of South Windsor, Conn., Armstrong has presented workshops on the use of popular music in the social studies classroom and has led numerous travel trips for teachers and students. In addition, he has presented workshops at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and at the Bethel Woods Museum for the Arts, which is located on the site of the original Woodstock Music Festival.
