Coming Back Home to Talcott Street

Faith Congregational Church, the oldest Black Church in the city of Hartford, is a hidden story in the city's history. On September 29, the church will tell its story through song and narrative from church members, a combined choir with Central Church and Immanuel Congregational Church and a special keynote address by Beverly Morgan Welch of the National Museum of African American History and Culture at the Smithsonian. Together Faith Congregational will bring this story to light in an outdoor, public celebration on the original site of the Talcott Street Congregational Church.

The day will begin on the corner of Market and Talcott Streets with worship celebration and end with a reception at the Old State House. The program begins at 2 p.m.

Join in as Faith Congregational Church celebrates this 200th church anniversary… still serving Hartford.
